TL;DR
Power Systems Modeling Engineer (Python/Java/C#/PSS/E): Developing transmission system models and software tools for real-time operations and transmission planning with an accent on steady-state, short-circuit, and geomagnetic disturbance modeling. Focus on validating network and generator data, automating model management, and coordinating complex modeling processes with transmission service providers and internal stakeholders.

Location: Hybrid position requiring on-site work in Taylor, Texas, at least 2–3 days per week; remote work must be performed from a Texas residence. On-site work may be required during tight grid conditions or emergency grid operations.

Salary: $71,000–$98,000 annually; level and final salary depend on experience.

Company

hirify.global operates the Texas power grid and wholesale electricity market, developing solutions for energy system reliability and planning.

What you will do

  • Develop steady-state, short-circuit, and geomagnetic disturbance transmission planning models using MOD, PSS/E, and ASPEN One-liner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Professional software development and maintenance experience in Python, Java, C#, or an equivalent language.
  • Ability to work on-site in Taylor, Texas, 2–3 days per week or more as business needs require.
  • Remote work is limited to a residence in Texas.
  • Relevant experience requirements vary by level: at least 1 year for Level 2, 3 years for Level 3, or 5 years for Senior level beyond degree requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience with PowerWorld, PSS/E, or ASPEN One-liner.
  • Transmission protection, short-circuit case development, or transmission planning experience.
  • SQL, Git or BitBucket, and Jira experience.
  • Experience managing projects and stakeholder groups independently.

Culture & Benefits
