Software Engineering Advisor (COBOL/Mainframe)

Location: Hybrid work schedule in Morris Plains, New Jersey, United States

Salary: $148,900–$186,100 per year; an alternate annual range of $111,700–$186,100 USD may apply depending on experience and geographic location. Eligible for an annual bonus plan.

What you will do

• Analyze, design, develop, and implement solutions for claims adjudication and drug utilization review systems.
• Build integrations across COBOL mainframe systems, Java services, web applications, and cloud services.
• Translate customer requirements into formal requirements and design documents.
• Plan and deliver initiatives while advising functional leaders and project teams.
• Lead programming, testing, estimation, coding reviews, and testing reviews.
• Establish quality procedures and monitor and audit projects to ensure delivery quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in software engineering or software development using mainframe technologies.
• Experience implementing, modifying, and developing business logic in COBOL.
• Experience with CICS, VSAM, DB2, SQL, and JCL batch processes for real-time transactions and business-critical member and claim data.
• Experience using Java services, Spring Boot microservices, and MongoDB to connect web applications with mainframe systems.
• Experience with Kafka data pipelines and legacy IBM mainframe tools including Endevor, IBM MQ, File-AID, and XPEDITOR.
