Resident Engineer

Location: San Diego, California, United States; projects are based in Southern California and involve regular field construction and inspection activities.

Salary: USD 88–123 per hour, plus potential eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Lead construction management activities as the owner’s representative across transportation projects such as highways, roadways, bridges, tunnels, and rail or transit infrastructure.
• Direct and supervise field construction activities, inspections, materials testing, construction staff, and subcontracted consultants.
• Manage contract administration, including pay applications, change orders, RFIs, correspondence, technical submittals, project logs, and close-out documentation.
• Monitor project safety and quality, attend safety meetings, and oversee compliance by hirify.global personnel and contractors.
• Coordinate with clients, owners, contractors, designers, regulatory agencies, stakeholders, and the public to resolve field and contract issues.
• Manage project schedules, staffing, budgets, client relationships, business development, proposals, and regional planning activities.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of resident engineer experience on transportation projects.
• Experience with field methods, construction practices, inspection, materials testing, and construction office procedures.
• Ability to work independently, make effective construction decisions, and solve problems in the field.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate with clients, contractors, consultants, designers, agencies, staff, and the public.
• Professional Engineer license in the State of California is preferred.
