Distribution Engineer II

Location: Allentown, Pennsylvania, United States; travel to primarily local client sites is required, with occasional overnight travel.

Salary: USD 72,800–83,200 per year, plus potential participation in an annual discretionary bonus program.

What you will do

• Create business cases for distribution system improvements and coordinate planning activities within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Lead and support capital maintenance and customer-driven distribution projects.
• Develop, review, and authenticate distribution planning documents and power quality investigations.
• Develop and improve distribution single-line and system switching diagrams, equipment specifications, planning processes, and standards.
• Participate in equipment procurement, planning initiatives, presentations, reporting, and technical support for field organizations.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers while supporting project delivery, deadlines, budgets, and customer relationships.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering; Electrical Engineering is preferred.
• At least three years of experience in a utility environment.
• Technical knowledge of power flow, short-circuit analysis, motor starts, harmonics, flicker, and other power quality issues.
• Knowledge of microgrids, minigrids, utility operations, and regulated environments.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, teamwork, prioritization, interpersonal, and project management skills.
• Ability to travel to local client sites and occasionally overnight.

Nice to have

• Previous experience in distribution, preferably within a utility distribution design team.
