What you will do

  • Advise undergraduate students on degree programs, academic schedules, course planning, curriculum changes, probationary status, and degree requirements.
  • Monitor student progress, review academic records and test scores, verify degree completion, and prepare advising reports.
  • Recruit and support prospective, freshman, and transfer students through orientations, campus visits, group tours, presentations, and admissions information sessions.
  • Refer students to university resources covering admissions, financial aid, housing, healthcare, academic support, time management, and study skills.
  • Coordinate with colleges, faculty, deans, and university offices on admissions, registration, degree audits, advising, and counseling.
  • Develop advising training materials and programs, participate in university events and committees, and supervise student workers and graduate assistants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
  • Zero years of related advising or recruiting experience required.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, student information systems, degree planning, and degree audits.
  • Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to present information clearly and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to multitask, work cooperatively, work beyond normal office hours or on weekends, and travel.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to move light objects.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree.
  • Bilingual Spanish.
