Academic Advisor I

Location: College Station, Texas, United States; onsite

What you will do

• Advise undergraduate students on academic goals, majors, minors, degree requirements, course selection, and career options.
• Explain and support academic processes including registration, add/drop, withdrawals, curriculum changes, transfer credits, and exception requests.
• Review academic records, monitor student progress, and provide guidance on probationary decisions and degree completion.
• Build relationships through in-person and online outreach to support student engagement and retention.
• Connect students with academic, career, health, wellness, disability, and student organization resources.
• Assist with advising events, student success initiatives, retention campaigns, and prospective student inquiries.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• No prior experience or professional license is required.
• Clear, concise, audience-appropriate communication and active listening skills.
• Ability to build relationships, collaborate across departments, research information, multitask, and organize simultaneous projects.
• Ability to use word-processing, spreadsheet, and database applications and handle confidential information.

• Knowledge of student development in higher education.
• Ability to help students develop educational and personal goals.
