TL;DR
Military Fellowship Program: Software Engineer (Aerospace) (C, C++, C#, Java, Python): Developing, testing, documenting, and integrating software applications and systems for battlefield communications and command-and-control capabilities with an accent on software architecture, Agile delivery, and DoD operational requirements. Focus on designing software modules, debugging logical and mathematical solutions, integrating software with hardware, and meeting Top Secret security constraints.

Location: Southern Pines, North Carolina, United States; onsite. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance are required.

What you will do

  • Work within an Agile software development team to deliver operational capabilities to the field.
  • Develop software used across the Department of Defense and by U.S. Special Operations Forces.
  • Design, develop, document, test, and debug applications and systems containing logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Define software and system architecture, design modules, and prepare technical documentation.
  • Write and test software modules and integrate them with other software and hardware components.
  • Apply software standards throughout the development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Currently serve on active duty and be eligible for the DoD SkillBridge program.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Typically 0–2 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Computer-Aided Engineering tools and conceptual understanding of engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary teams.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Nice to have

  • Understanding of C, C#, C++, HTML, Java, Python, or Bash.
  • Experience with requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, artifact repositories, and automated builds.
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, or Spiral methodologies.
  • Familiarity with data structures.
