TL;DR
Software Development Engineer I - Early Career (2027 Starts) (Aerospace): Developing, testing, and maintaining software for reusable space vehicles and systems with an accent on requirements analysis, object-oriented programming, and multidisciplinary vehicle development. Focus on troubleshooting server-side and client-side issues, applying software quality and DevOps practices, and supporting safe, repeatable flight operations.

Location: Greater Seattle Area, with the primary location in Kent, Washington; early-career engineers are expected to be co-located with their team and supported hardware.

Base pay for Washington applicants: $110,623.00–$154,871.85 per year. Other site ranges may differ.

What you will do

  • Contribute to the full software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, and maintenance.
  • Develop solutions that accelerate vehicle development, testing, and operations in collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Apply systems analysis, software testing, quality assurance, DevOps, and data analysis depending on team placement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software issues across server-side and client-side systems.

Requirements

  • Earned or completing a BS degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field within the last year, with availability to start by Fall 2027.
  • Experience with a modern object-oriented programming language such as Java, C#, C++, or Python.
  • Knowledge of computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms, and the ability to write efficient working code.
  • Experience using source control such as Git, plus relevant internship, co-op, research, coursework, or hands-on development experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee under export control regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on rapid development programs with minimal direction.

Nice to have

  • Advanced degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with on-premises and cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS.
  • Experience with Git, Docker, Kubernetes, HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks such as React, or real-time embedded and industrial control systems.
