Senior Software Engineer - Mission Systems Integration (TAK)

Location: Remote; travel up to 25% to customer sites, test events, and field integration exercises.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and integrate custom plugins, services, and middleware for ATAK, WinTAK, TAK Server, and MILTAK.
• Architect Cursor on Target data schemas, translations, and event-routing pipelines between tactical devices and enterprise cloud systems.
• Configure, scale, deploy, and maintain TAK Server across on-premise, edge, and cloud environments.
• Build low-latency APIs and data ingestion pipelines for sensor and intelligence feeds.
• Translate operational mission requirements into scalable solutions with engineering teams, product managers, and government stakeholders.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, testing frameworks, and troubleshooting for tactical networks and integrations.

Requirements

• Active DoD Secret clearance with eligibility to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of software engineering and systems integration experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on TAK protocol ecosystem experience, including CoT messaging, TAK Server management, and ATAK/WinTAK/MILTAK integration.
• Strong proficiency in at least two of Java/Kotlin, C#/.NET, C++, or Python.
• Experience with network protocols, real-time messaging, XML, JSON, Protocol Buffers, Git/GitLab, and Docker.

Nice to have

• ATAK Android plugin development with the ATAK Plugin SDK.
• Tactical data links and defense geospatial formats.
• TAK Server or mission application deployments in AWS GovCloud or Microsoft Azure Government.
• Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible, and DoD cybersecurity, STIG, or RMF experience.
