Senior Manager, Platform Engineering – Cloud Foundations (AWS/Azure)

Location: Richmond, VA or Lynchburg, VA; hybrid schedule required with in-office days Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Core business hours target 9am–5pm EST.

Salary: $120,900–$187,000 nationally; $114,900–$178,000 in Lynchburg. Additional bonus incentive may apply.

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and develop cloud engineering teams responsible for foundational AWS and Azure capabilities.
• Set strategy, priorities, and roadmaps for cloud foundation services in partnership with architecture and platform leadership.
• Oversee networking, identity and access management, security controls, governance guardrails, landing zones, observability, and shared cloud services.
• Drive operational excellence through service health management, incident response, root cause analysis, reliability practices, KPIs, and service-level objectives.
• Advance self-service cloud adoption through Terraform, GitOps, CI/CD, policy-as-code, reusable services, and standardized onboarding.
• Partner with architecture, security, infrastructure, risk, service operations, application engineering, and business leadership on platform strategy, compliance, cost optimization, and adoption.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
• 8–12+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or related technology roles.
• 3–5+ years of experience leading technical teams and developing engineering talent.
• Strong experience with both AWS and Azure, including networking, identity, security, governance, and core infrastructure services.
• Experience with enterprise-scale platform engineering or cloud operations, Terraform, cloud governance, landing zones, compliance frameworks, monitoring, and incident management.
• Ability to collaborate across architecture, engineering, security, operations, and executive leadership and lead adoption of modern cloud practices.
