Senior Software Engineer (Platform Engineering)

Location: Hybrid schedule near the Charlotte, NC office; candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US.

Base salary: $152,000–$173,000 annually, plus variable incentive compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Design and build self-service developer platforms for infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, environment management, and platform services.
• Develop and optimize CI/CD platforms using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, and related technologies.
• Build deployment automation, release orchestration, environment management, rollback capabilities, and continuous delivery workflows.
• Design cloud-native platform capabilities on Azure and Kubernetes using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Identify software delivery friction and improve onboarding, development environments, documentation, templates, automation, and developer feedback loops.
• Lead cross-team technical initiatives, establish engineering standards, and mentor engineers in platform engineering, cloud-native development, CI/CD, and DevEx.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, developer experience, site reliability engineering, or related roles.
• Demonstrated experience building and operating CI/CD platforms at scale and implementing continuous integration and continuous deployment in production.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or comparable CI/CD technologies.
• Experience building internal tooling, developer platforms, or engineering productivity solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Backstage or similar internal developer portals, GitOps, ArgoCD, progressive delivery, feature flagging, canary deployments, or blue-green deployments.
• Experience with DORA, SPACE, OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, and modern observability platforms.
• Experience in regulated environments, particularly financial services or fintech.
• Azure, Kubernetes, cloud, or DevOps certifications.
• Experience using AI-powered development tools to improve developer productivity and software delivery.
