Director, Product Software Engineering | Platform Engineering and Architecture (Kubernetes)

Location: USA - Coppell, TX; hybrid onsite work arrangement. Travel: 20%. Applicants may be required to attend onsite interviews at a hirify.global office.

Salary: $179,200.00–$320,200.00 USD annually, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Provide strategic leadership, vision, and roadmaps for developer enablement and infrastructure engineering in a matrixed organization.
• Lead the platform responsible for releasing container-based software to Kubernetes and support more than 600 engineers.
• Own Akuity/Argo CD administration, GitOps workflows, multi-cluster promotion, drift detection, rollback, and OAM-based golden paths.
• Govern container release processes, including approvals, policy controls, artifact provenance, SBOM/SLSA, and progressive delivery.
• Build and mature infrastructure development and SRE teams, including staffing, onboarding, coaching, and career development.
• Establish SRE practices covering SLOs, SLIs, error budgets, incident management, post-incident reviews, capacity, and performance engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and relevant product software engineering experience.
• At least 9 years of experience in product software engineering or platform/SRE leadership.
• People management experience and experience operating in matrixed environments.
• Technical competence in platform engineering, architecture, cloud computing, modern application architectures, and API-first enablement.
• Experience with Kubernetes at scale, GitOps, infrastructure-as-code, policy-as-code, CI/CD, container security, observability, and secure software delivery.
• Knowledge of and interest in AI, including personal use of AI coding tools and adoption across engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with multi-cluster or multi-region Kubernetes platforms, service meshes, and secrets management.
• Experience with Terraform or Pulumi, OPA/Gatekeeper, Argo Rollouts or Flagger, and enterprise supply-chain controls.
• Experience coaching product teams and managing stakeholder relationships in an enterprise environment.
