Construction Risk Control Technical Safety Consultant

Location: Chantilly, Virginia, United States. The role requires a consistent field presence, with approximately 20%–50% of time onsite with customers and possible long-distance or overnight travel.

Annual base salary: $94,400–$155,800, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Evaluate hazards, controls, and risk-management practices for complex construction and other high-exposure accounts.
• Complete risk assessments for multi-location companies, severe-loss exposures, and larger fleet operations.
• Prepare technically detailed reports with clear risk evaluations and recommendations.
• Identify uncontrolled exposures and influence customers to implement corrective actions and loss-mitigation measures.
• Partner with Underwriting, Claims, Risk Control Specialists, and brokers to select, retain, and grow profitable business.
• Provide risk-control solutions while staying current with technical subjects, regulations, and emerging issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or graduate degree in environmental health and safety, engineering, construction management, basic sciences, or a related technical field.
• At least five years of experience in safety, risk control or management, occupational or environmental health and safety, science, engineering, construction, manufacturing, or relevant military service.
• Strong knowledge of the insurance industry and business acumen.
• Technical aptitude, critical-thinking ability, attention to detail, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Recognized relevant certifications such as ASP, CSP, ARM, or CFPS are valued.
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain certifications required by applicable states.
