Senior Consultant, Risk Control Construction Safety

Location: Chantilly, Virginia, United States; requires a consistent field presence with approximately 20%–50% of time onsite with customers, including possible long-distance, overnight, and multi-night travel.

Annual base salary: $99,100–$163,400 USD, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Provide underwriters with account knowledge covering hazards, controls, management practices, and inherent risk factors.
• Partner with Underwriting to select, retain, and grow a profitable book of business, while collaborating with Claims, Risk Control Specialists, and brokers.
• Complete risk assessment evaluations for moderate- to highly complex accounts, including severe-loss exposures, multi-location companies, and larger fleet risks.
• Write technically detailed reports that clearly assess risk and communicate recommendations.
• Analyze losses and customer readiness, identify uncontrolled exposures, and influence customers to implement corrective actions.
• Provide risk mitigation solutions using available resources and remain current on technical subjects, regulations, and emerging issues.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience in safety, risk control or management, occupational or environmental health and safety, science, engineering, construction, manufacturing, a related field, or relevant military experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must have or be able to attain appropriate certification to meet applicable state-specific requirements.
• Bachelor's or graduate degree in environmental health and safety, engineering, construction management, basic sciences, or a related technical field.
• Strong knowledge of the insurance industry and business acumen.
• Recognized relevant certifications such as ASP, CSP, ARM, or CFPS.
• Technical aptitude, attention to detail, superior written and verbal communication, critical thinking, influencing, negotiation, and coaching skills.
• Ability to establish credibility and rapport quickly and work collaboratively.
