Focus on manufacturing close-tolerance parts from engineering drawings, supporting students and faculty, and maintaining safe, effective lab operations.

Location: Main Campus, College Station, Texas, United States. The role is focused on face-to-face student education and supervision and operates primarily during evenings and weekends.

What you will do

  • Lead training sessions for mechanical engineering students on manual shop equipment, CNC machines, and related software.
  • Provide technical and instructional support to students, staff, and faculty in the machine shop and rapid prototyping studio.
  • Fabricate steel, aluminum, and other parts from drawings, prints, or verbal instructions to specified tolerances.
  • Manufacture gears, threads, shafts, adapters, jigs, and fixtures to close tolerances.
  • Maintain and repair metal parts, tools, equipment, and laboratory systems.
  • Supervise students in the safe use of equipment and support laboratory operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Three years of related laboratory operations experience.
  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and sketches, perform mathematical computations, multitask, and work cooperatively.
  • Patience and empathy when working with college-age students and untrained individuals.
  • Ability and willingness to work primarily during evenings and weekend hours and to work on the College Station main campus.
