Senior Machinist & Instrumentation Specialist

Location: On-site at the Stephenville campus in Stephenville, Texas, United States. Full-time schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with additional hours as operational needs require.

Salary: $72,870–$103,000 annual base salary, commensurate with experience and potentially negotiable based on funding and qualifications.

What you will do

• Perform machining, fabrication, and modification of components for scientific instrumentation, instructional equipment, and research needs.
• Operate CNC and other machining and fabrication tools to adapt, repair, and improve equipment functionality, safety, and performance.
• Troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, adjust, and operate complex laboratory instruments and systems, coordinating vendor support when needed.
• Plan and perform preventive maintenance while maintaining calibration records, inventories, documentation, and procedural manuals.
• Train faculty, staff, and students in the safe use of scientific instrumentation and related software.
• Support procurement, inventory control, installation, equipment setup, technology upgrades, laboratory safety, and Campus Security Authority duties.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• At least eight years of experience operating, repairing, maintaining, calibrating, and supporting scientific instrumentation and laboratory equipment; equivalent combinations may include an associate degree with ten years or a master’s degree with six years of experience.
• Knowledge of scientific and instructional instrumentation, laboratory safety, preventive maintenance, compliance requirements, machining, fabrication, and CNC equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex equipment, modify components, manage multiple priorities, and exercise sound technical judgment.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students.
• Employment may be affected if immigration sponsorship is required; the university will not pay the stated H-1B petition fee.
