Litigation Attorney (Insurance Defense)

Location: Rancho Cordova, California, United States

Salary: $106,300–$175,400 annual base salary, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Handle a caseload of predominantly low- to moderate-complexity insurance defense litigation from inception through trial, hearing, appeal, or negotiated resolution.
• Develop and apply litigation skills to try cases to verdict and negotiate settlements.
• Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other legal documents.
• Attend court events, depositions, and other appointments independently, traveling as required by business needs.
• Provide case analysis, recommendations, advice, and training to insured clients, claim partners, and business partners.
• Build strong client relationships and use available technology, case management systems, and automation effectively.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent international legal degree from an accredited law school.
• At least 2 years of experience as a practicing attorney; 3+ years of insurance defense litigation experience preferred.
• Active license in good standing to practice law in the state or states where representation is required.
• Experience independently handling cases through trial or hearing and appeal, including hearings, dispositive motion arguments, depositions, or other court proceedings.
• Strong legal research, persuasive legal writing, oral advocacy, communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to travel to court proceedings and other meetings; a valid driver's license may be required depending on the location.
