Commercial Lines Operations Manager (Insurance)

Location: Uniondale, New York, United States

Salary: $155,000–$195,000 per year, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Manage Commercial Lines department staff, including hiring, training, career development, performance reviews, work plans, schedules, and performance improvement plans.
• Oversee account retention, renewals, cross-selling, referrals, and service standards for commercial clients.
• Coordinate inside service for new and existing clients, supporting sales, account development, presentations, and problem-solving.
• Monitor KPIs, renewal status, invoicing, open items, workloads, backlogs, and operational reports.
• Partner with the OpCo President and/or COO on compliance, profitability, growth objectives, and strategic planning.
• Act as a liaison with insurance carriers, conduct quality audits, and resolve department issues.

Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of agency management systems, workflow procedures, underwriting, sales, and service processes.
• Must hold a state Property & Casualty insurance license or be willing to obtain one within an agreed timeframe.
• Ability to plan and instruct staff, manage conflict, solve problems proactively, and lead in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to set priorities and manage workflows with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.
• College degree preferred but not required.
• Industry designation such as ARM, CIC, or CPCU preferred, or willingness to pursue one.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Sagitta and ImageRight.
• Experience continuing education in insurance industry information, legislation, coverages, and technology.
