Account Executive Officer/Sr. Underwriter, National Accounts (Insurance): Managing, underwriting, and growing complex national casualty insurance accounts with an accent on loss-sensitive products, profitability, and risk assessment. Focus on negotiating challenging accounts, developing agency sales plans, identifying cross-selling opportunities, and building relationships with agents, brokers, and customers.

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; regular in-person meetings with agents, brokers, and customers and travel required.

Annual base salary: $120,400–$198,700 USD, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

  • Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned national accounts book of business.
  • Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts involving Workers’ Compensation, General and Product Liability, and Commercial Automobile Liability.
  • Build relationships with agents, brokers, customers, and internal partners to support sales and cross-selling plans.
  • Identify new business opportunities through consultative marketing and sales, with sales cycles of six months to one year.
  • Develop agency and regional sales plans with the Managing Director.
  • Support training and mentoring for less experienced Account Executives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • At least four years of relevant experience in underwriting, claims, operations, risk assessment, actuarial work, sales, product, or finance.
  • Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience, including National Accounts experience, preferred for the role.
  • Knowledge of loss-sensitive products, the regulatory environment, and the local insurance market.
  • Strong financial acumen, critical thinking, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • CPCU designation.
