Underwriter II - Lawyers' Professional Liability

Location: Matawan, New Jersey, United States; hybrid

Salary: $56,000–$66,000 per year, depending on experience, plus a target incentive of 5%.

What you will do

• Analyze applications, websites, claims histories, and file notes to assess lawyers’ professional liability risks.
• Request, evaluate, and document supplementary underwriting information.
• Accept or reject risks within program guidelines and coordinate assessments with the underwriting team.
• Underwrite and price exposures, recommend and bind coverage, issue invoices and policies, and track policy completion.
• Analyze endorsement requests and manage conditional, non-renewal, and cancellation notices in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Communicate with agents and support underwriting policy and procedure development.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional liability underwriting experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Property & Casualty and/or appropriate business licensure for direct client service and underwriting.
• Broad knowledge of the insurance industry, strong mathematical, negotiation, communication, organizational, analytical, and research skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and company systems.
• Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time.
