Underwriter II (Personal Lines Insurance)

Location: Vero Beach or Tampa, Florida, USA, or remotely; periodic office visits and onsite carrier meetings may be required.

Brown & Brown's Orchid Insurance business provides personal lines insurance underwriting and carrier-related services.

What you will do

• Approve, modify, or reject new and renewal risks according to carrier underwriting guidelines.
• Evaluate complex personal lines risks using claims, inspection reports, loss history, and property value and condition.
• Handle underwriting referrals, make justified exceptions, and safeguard profitability.
• Collaborate with underwriting, operations, claims, marketing, IT, and distribution teams on products, audits, UAT, and process improvements.
• Build agency relationships by negotiating unsold quotes, explaining policy options, and identifying cross-selling opportunities.
• Support client service coverage and mentor or train new and less experienced underwriters.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of experience in personal lines underwriting or a related field.
• Proficiency in new business, renewals, inspection findings, risk decisions, and underwriting referrals.
• Possess or acquire and maintain a Florida 2-20 insurance license, or the equivalent Property & Casualty license for non-resident Florida teammates.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and customer service skills.

• Florida 1-20 insurance license, or the equivalent Excess & Surplus license for non-resident Florida teammates.
