Underwriter - Alternative Markets (Medical Professional Liability)

Base salary: $81,665–$137,535 per year

What you will do

• Underwrite medical professional liability insurance for healthcare groups and facilities.
• Analyze account information, exposures, loss runs, financials, regulations, and industry reports to accept or decline risks.
• Approve applications, renewals, and endorsements within authority, determine rating plans, and calculate premiums.
• Manage an assigned territory in line with underwriting guidelines, compliance requirements, and financial objectives.
• Build relationships with agent and broker partners and participate in presentations to insureds and prospects.
• Lead underwriting process training, support operational improvements, and research healthcare and insurance trends.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
• 4+ years of medical professional liability underwriting experience.
• Active Property and Casualty Producers license.
• Ability to assess healthcare facilities, their services, and relevant regulatory, legislative, legal, and economic factors.
• Strong written, analytical, presentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software applications.

Nice to have

• CPCU and/or RPLU studies.
• Strong relationships with insurance producers.
