Underwriter - Professional Liability / Miscellaneous & Construction PI --- FinPro

Location: Hybrid, with at least three days per week in the office in Alpharetta, GA; Windsor, CT; Chicago, IL; Kansas City, MO; or New York, NY, US.

Estimated base salary: $168,000–$252,000 per year, plus potential short- and long-term incentives and benefits.

What you will do

• Underwrite and manage a portfolio of miscellaneous and construction professional liability risks.
• Develop broker relationships and generate quality submissions through retail and wholesale distribution channels.
• Identify new business opportunities aligned with underwriting strategy and risk appetite.
• Analyze exposures, pricing adequacy, coverage structures, and policy terms.
• Negotiate terms with brokers and clients while maintaining disciplined risk selection.
• Collaborate with claims, actuarial, and underwriting colleagues to monitor portfolio performance and market trends.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional liability underwriting experience with a strong record of risk selection and portfolio management.
• Expertise in miscellaneous professional liability and/or construction professional liability risks.
• Established broker network in the professional liability insurance market.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to assess complex exposures, evaluate pricing, structure coverage solutions, and manage multiple priorities.

• Experience with both retail and wholesale broker channels.
• Knowledge of emerging professional liability risks and market trends.
• Entrepreneurial, collaborative, and proactive approach to business development.
• Experience representing an insurer or reinsurer at industry events and client meetings.
