Senior Design Engineer (Mechanical)

Location: Hagerstown, Maryland, United States

Pay range: $73,200.00–$117,800.00 annually

What you will do

• Design and redesign functional, reliable, cost-effective heavy-duty vehicle components for existing and new vehicles.
• Perform engineering calculations, analysis, modeling, material selection, and design optimization.
• Support cost management, value analysis/value engineering, benchmarking, tear-down evaluations, and product improvement initiatives.
• Prepare layouts, drawings, specifications, bills of material, technical proposals, reports, and presentations.
• Coordinate with onsite and offshore engineering resources, suppliers, customers, and cross-functional partners.
• Manage multiple initiatives, resolve engineering issues, support production, and mentor entry-level engineers, designers, or technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Three or more years of related engineering experience.
• Ability to work with engineering standards, drawing criteria, technical documentation, and multiple concurrent priorities.
• Regular attendance is required.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment and related systems.
• Experience with a high-level CAD system and value analysis/value engineering practices.
• Experience with product benchmarking, tear-down analysis, cost management, costed BOMs, supplier quotations, or manufacturing processes.
• Experience working across product platforms and with offshore engineering teams, technical centers, suppliers, or globally distributed projects.
