TL;DR
Network Engineer III (Network Security): Developing, operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting deployable communications architectures and enterprise network services for research, development, testing, and evaluation across multiple ranges with an accent on secure routing, network architecture, and mission-critical communications. Focus on configuring firewalls and routing protocols, maintaining RMF/IAVM compliance, designing deployable communications sites, and troubleshooting systems supporting critical communication infrastructure.
Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States; no remote or telework allowed. Approximately 25% travel may be required.

What you will do
- Develop and deploy communications architectures for dynamic mission requirements across multiple ranges.
- Design, install, maintain, and repair deployable communications sites.
- Configure and secure routers, switches, firewalls, access control solutions, VPNs, and enterprise services.
- Route data using Type 1 encryption and troubleshoot OSPF, EIGRP, Rapid PVST, QoS, and related network protocols.
- Maintain patches to meet RMF and IAVM requirements and collaborate with systems administrators on standalone systems.
- Create system documentation, network drawings, and status reports for the Lead Network Engineer and senior management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field with 5–7 years of experience; equivalent graduate-degree experience may apply.
- Security+ or DoD Directive 8570.01 IAT Level II certification is required.
- CCNA certification or higher, or the ability to obtain CCNA within 90 days of hire.
- At least 3 years of experience designing and implementing network architecture and configuring routers, switches, OSPF, EIGRP, and Rapid PVST.
- At least 3 years of experience with Cisco ASA firewalls, IPSEC, ACLs, NAT, and other network security solutions.
- Experience with SolarWinds, Wireshark, and Visio; active Secret clearance is required.
Nice to have
- Experience securing network infrastructure according to DISA STIG requirements.
- Ability to mentor teammates, support customers in presentations or briefings, and work independently in changing environments.
- Strong written, oral, and listening communication skills.
