TL;DR
Medical Assistant I (Primary Care): Providing direct patient care and clinical support in an outpatient primary care setting with an accent on vital signs, patient histories, basic clinical procedures, and electronic medical records. Focus on assisting clinicians during examinations, handling specimens and medical instruments, maintaining infection control, and keeping clinical areas stocked and calibrated.
Location: College Station, Texas, United States; onsite, Monday through Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm. Occasional after-hours duties may be required.

What you will do
- Provide direct patient care and support communication between patients and providers.
- Measure and document vital signs, obtain medical histories, prepare patients, and provide basic education.
- Assist or chaperone clinicians during examinations and procedures, including injections, medication administration, screenings, EKGs, specimen handling, nebulizer treatments, wound care, and splint fitting.
- Clean, disinfect, sterilize, calibrate, maintain, and stock clinical equipment, instruments, exam rooms, and patient care areas.
- Document histories, consent signatures, procedures, and laboratory collections in the electronic medical record.
- Answer calls, coordinate appointment changes, communicate with the care team, and report inventory or equipment needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years of relevant healthcare customer service experience, including medical reception or patient care in a medical office, hospital, nursing home, or home health setting.
- Medical Assistant certification or proof of registration for examination through ARMA, AAMA, NHA, or NAHP is required before the start date.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification within six months of employment.
- Knowledge of basic medical techniques, electronic medical records, office applications, confidentiality, organization, prioritization, and customer service.
- FERPA and HIPAA training is required upon employment and must be completed on a recurring basis.
Nice to have
- Two years of experience in a medical office, outpatient primary care clinic, hospital, nursing home, or home health setting.
- Experience in a college healthcare environment.
- Completion of an accredited medical assistant program.
