Location: Commerce, Texas, United States; onsite at hirify.global

Salary: $60,000 for the Emergency Management Program Specialist or $70,000 for the Emergency Management Program Manager per year.

What you will do

  • Lead emergency management programs, strategic planning, preparedness, mitigation, recovery, and continuity-of-services activities.
  • Develop and maintain all-hazard Emergency Response Plans, Incident Command System procedures, annexes, and Business Continuity Plans.
  • Coordinate with Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Texas Department of Emergency Management, university departments, local agencies, and community stakeholders.
  • Manage or support Emergency Operations Center activations, emergency notifications, communications, and situational-awareness systems.
  • Develop and deliver training, seminars, disaster exercises, community outreach, and emergency preparedness initiatives.
  • Conduct after-action reviews, track corrective actions, evaluate program performance, and support budgeting and financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience for the Specialist role or five years for the Manager role in emergency operations, program management, Homeland Security, health and safety, administration, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of emergency management practices, regulatory requirements, critical infrastructure operations, emergency response planning, and the Incident Command System.
  • Ability to work beyond normal office hours, including weekends and holidays, and respond to intense, chaotic, and changing emergency situations.
  • Obtain Certified Emergency Manager or Certified Texas Emergency Manager certification within two years of employment.
  • Background investigation and psychological examination are required; polygraph and drug testing may also be required. The role requires a passing Texas Commission on Law Enforcement psychological and emotional health declaration.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field and experience in a university or law enforcement setting.
  • National Emergency Management Basic Academy, Texas Department of Emergency Management Academy, FEMA Professional Development or Advanced Professional Series, CEM, AEM, or TEM certification.
