Associate Producer (Television News)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, onsite at 2501 W. Bradley Place (WGN-TV)

Salary: $60,000–$70,000 annualized, commensurate with experience and skills

What you will do

• Assist with production needs across broadcast and digital platforms.
• Stack, write, and edit content for multiple daily newscasts.
• Collaborate with reporters on scripts, packages, and live shots.
• Support editorial decisions involving graphics and visual elements, especially during breaking news.
• Research stories and edit video for broadcast and digital publication.
• Post stories and segments to digital platforms and serve as a fill-in Producer when needed.

Requirements

• At least three years of newsroom experience in a television news environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, TV/Film, or equivalent experience.
• Strong writing, grammar, editing, news judgment, and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under deadline pressure.
• Understanding of visual, written, and verbal storytelling, newsroom standards, and journalistic integrity.
• Ability to collaborate with producers, reporters, anchors, photographers, digital, production, and engineering teams.
