TL;DR
Electrical Engineer II (RF) (Electrical Engineering/RF): Designing, integrating, testing, and troubleshooting electrical hardware and imaging systems for US Navy vessels with an accent on RF electronics, PCB assemblies, technical data packages, and military-specification cabling. Focus on prototyping and debugging hardware, developing test plans, analyzing system components, and supporting installations and platform configurations.

Location: Middletown, Rhode Island, with on-site work in Newport or Middletown; must be local to the work location. Occasional telework is available, with up to 10% travel.

Salary: $69,531.26–$120,901.37 per year.

What you will do

  • Design electrical schematics, diagrams, requirements, technical data packages, system interconnects, wire harnesses, and RF, fiber, and copper cables.
  • Develop test plans and readiness evaluations, install hardware, troubleshoot assemblies, and support testing of imaging systems on US Navy vessels.
  • Integrate PCB designs, prototype and debug hardware in a laboratory environment, and perform diagnostics and technical analysis of electrical, electronic, and RF systems.
  • Conduct component analyses and trade studies involving military-specification and commercial off-the-shelf materials.
  • Modify or develop applications using C++ on Linux, Java, MATLAB, Python, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, SQL, and Verilog as required.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and systems engineers, Navy and government stakeholders, OEMs, and subcontractors during design reviews and system delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 2–4 years of related experience, or a relevant master's degree with 0–2 years of experience.
  • Experience with electrical CAD software such as Altium, OrCAD, or LTSpice.
  • Experience developing or modifying applications using C++ on Linux, Java, MATLAB, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and SQL.
  • Experience using laboratory equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, logic analyzers, and FieldFox equipment.
  • Familiarity with RF test equipment and systems, including antennas, amplifiers, filters, and signal distribution.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance and work locally at the Newport or Middletown site.

Nice to have

  • Experience with submarine systems or the USN SUBSAFE program and policies.
  • Experience with PCB layout and design, microcontrollers, FPGAs, embedded systems, or SolidWorks.
