Power Electronics Engineer II (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Salary: $106,500–$142,500 per year.

What you will do

• Contribute throughout the development lifecycle of spacecraft payload power electronics and space power systems.
• Help define power system architectures and perform design trade studies.
• Design circuits, run simulations, and create schematics and PCB layouts.
• Verify and integrate hardware through laboratory testing and troubleshooting.
• Support manufacturing activities and collaborate across engineering functions.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
• At least two years of experience designing analog and power electronics.
• Experience designing basic DC-DC converter topologies, including linear regulators, Buck, Boost, and Buck-boost converters.
• Knowledge of voltage-mode and peak-current-mode control theory.
• Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Altium, OrCAD, Allegro, or Xpedition.
• Hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting electronics using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and signal generators.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering focused on power electronics.
• Experience with power integrity simulation, power magnetics modeling, control-loop characterization, or wide-bandgap GaN and SiC devices.
• Experience with SPICE, LTSPICE, SIMetrix/SIMPLIS, PLECS, Simulink, MATLAB, MathCAD, ANSYS Q3D, SiWave, or HyperLynx.
• Programming skills in Python or MATLAB for hardware testing and data processing.
