Safety Specialist I (Transmission & Distribution)

Location: Omaha, Nebraska, with worksites throughout the assigned project area; onsite and travel required.

What you will do

• Conduct ongoing site visits to observe and document safety behaviors, work conditions, PPE hazards, and quality-focused practices.
• Coordinate site-specific safety plans with Operations and participate in project kickoff, progress, and safety meetings.
• Support compliance with client requirements and local, state, and federal occupational health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Coach field personnel and coordinate or facilitate orientations, OSHA refreshers, customer training, and post-incident training.
• Investigate accidents and injuries, perform root cause analyses, and support incident case management and documentation.
• Follow up on corrective actions and support safety committees with performance trend assessments and process improvements.

Requirements

• At least two years of experience in environmental, health, and safety roles.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA and other industry safety regulations.
• Strong verbal and written communication, problem-solving, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Applicants must already be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not provided. Ability to travel to job sites for extended periods is required.

Nice to have

• Safety certification such as CSHO, CHST, SMS, SSH, or CSP.
• Undergraduate degree in Safety Management or a related field.
• Basic understanding of electric construction project management practices.
