Safety Representative (Electric Utility)

Location: Willis/The Woodlands, Texas area; extensive travel within the assigned region required

What you will do

• Conduct field safety observations of distribution line crews and document audits, unsafe conditions, work practices, and coaching opportunities.
• Lead tailgate meetings, daily safety briefings, weekly safety stand-downs, and monthly safety focus discussions.
• Respond to worksite incidents, conduct interviews, gather evidence, and support root cause analysis.
• Implement and reinforce incident learnings, corrective actions, safety initiatives, and critical procedures in the field.
• Verify compliance with OSHA, DOT, customer requirements, and internal safety policies.
• Support crews and leadership during safety audits, inspections, and customer reviews while promoting safety ownership and accountability.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a journeyman lineman in electric distribution.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, utility safety policies, and industry safety practices.
• Effective communication and demonstrated leadership in field environments.
• Ability to travel extensively within the assigned region.
• Basic proficiency with mobile documentation tools and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice to have

• At least 2 years of experience in a safety-related role, such as Safety Representative or foreman with safety responsibilities.
• OSHA 500, CSHO, CUSP, or equivalent safety certification.
• Experience coaching and mentoring field employees while maintaining high safety standards.
• Ability to build trust with crews and remain calm, confident, and professional under pressure.
