Safety Specialist (Electric Utility)

Location: New Orleans, Hammond, and La Place, Louisiana; Willis/The Woodlands, Texas area. Extensive travel within the assigned region is required.

Salary: $45.00–$50.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Conduct field safety observations and audits for distribution line crews.
• Identify unsafe conditions, improper work practices, and coaching opportunities, then document findings.
• Lead tailgate meetings, daily safety briefings, weekly safety stand-downs, and monthly safety initiatives.
• Respond to worksite incidents, conduct interviews, gather evidence, and assist with root cause analysis.
• Verify compliance with OSHA, DOT, customer requirements, and internal safety policies.
• Support safety audits, inspections, customer reviews, corrective actions, and field safety culture initiatives.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as a journeyman lineman in electric distribution.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, utility safety policies, and industry safety practices.
• Effective communication and demonstrated leadership in field environments.
• Ability to travel extensively within the assigned region.
• Basic proficiency with mobile documentation tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
• At least 2 years of safety-related experience is preferred; OSHA 500, CSHO, CUSP, or equivalent certification is also preferred.
