Engineering Manager (Data & Platform)

Location: Remote, Boadilla del Monte, Spain

Santander Auto Software is a fully remote software team within Santander’s auto-finance domain, building a global platform and product suite rolled out across Europe.

What you will do

• Own the overall development lifecycle of platform solutions and manage complex projects with significant business impact.
• Partner with Product Managers to develop roadmaps and deliver capabilities aligned with business goals.
• Work with senior engineers to assess feasibility and define technical designs for new product development.
• Establish software development and documentation best practices while ensuring quality delivery on tight schedules.
• Support the growth and progression of direct reports and improve team performance through metrics, feedback, and continuous learning.
• Partner with HR and technology peers to align ways of working with the wider Santander organization.

Requirements

• Experience running agile and/or lean software delivery processes.
• Experience assessing product and technology priorities, defining appropriate scope, and delivering software in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous software engineering experience as a programmer, preferably up to senior level.
• Experience with reactive frontend systems, Java and Kotlin microservices, RESTful APIs, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Kafka, and AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to work effectively with different audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
