What you will do

  • Prepare non-complex sterile and non-sterile medications, oral liquids, extemporaneous formulations, and bulk medications according to approved formulas and instructions.
  • Operate automated pharmacy technology, unit-dose machines, and automated dispensing cabinets for medication preparation, packaging, replenishment, and documentation.
  • Manage medication and supply inventory, including ordering, receiving, storage, cycle counts, expiration checks, and required records.
  • Maintain emergency medication carts, kits, medication rooms, patient-specific bins, and assigned patient-care areas.
  • Process billing and pharmacy transactions, assist customers and patients by phone and in person, and troubleshoot insurance issues.
  • Complete quality-control documentation and communicate with pharmacists, nursing, physicians, ancillary services, and pharmacy colleagues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
  • Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician Registration.
  • At least one year of pharmacy-related experience.
  • Knowledge of medications, hazardous-substance handling, sterile compounding, mathematical calculations, and pharmacy procedures.
  • Ability to stand and walk for approximately 90% of the day, occasionally lift up to 30 lb, and push equipment weighing 40–60 lb.

Nice to have

  • Associate's degree.
  • Two years of pharmacy-related experience in a hospital setting.
