Retail Pharmacy Technician Trainee

Location: Peoria, Illinois, United States; onsite pharmacy and in-office dispensing role.

Salary: $16.00–$22.00 per hour, based on experience, education, and other factors.

What you will do

• Support the pharmacist with oral oncology medication dispensing, prescription preparation, labeling, delivery, and required signatures.
• Enter and process prescriptions, billing, fulfillment, daily reports, and monthly pharmacy-management-system records.
• Maintain accurate patient, medication, allergy, insurance, prescription, and interaction-screening records in the pharmacy system and EHR.
• Submit and manage prior authorizations, troubleshoot Medicare Part B verification, and coordinate with providers and nursing staff.
• Research copay assistance and manufacturer or foundation financial-assistance programs for high-cost oral medications.
• Manage medication inventory, ordering, invoices, recalls, expired-drug returns, and wholesaler issues while supporting cost-effective purchasing.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Illinois pharmacy technician license or an application for an Illinois technician license.
• National Pharmacy Technician Certification or a plan to obtain certification within one year of hire.
• Strong customer service, communication, organizational, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to maintain accuracy, adapt to changing priorities, and make sound decisions in a regulated pharmacy environment.
• Ability to sit and stand for extended periods, read and record measurements, and occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds.
