Manager Engineering, Retail Applications (AI)

Salary: USD 150,000–190,000 per year

What you will do

• Own delivery and operations for store technology, including POS, clienteling, store reporting, and payments.
• Lead incident response, root-cause analysis, release hardening, uptime monitoring, and reliability improvements.
• Launch and scale new stores and relocations by staging POS devices, payment terminals, and clienteling iPads.
• Integrate payment, POS, and clienteling platforms through SDKs, APIs, ERP/CRM integrations, and compliance processes.
• Coordinate with OMS and eCommerce teams to support BOPIS, ship-from-store, and remote selling.
• Maintain dashboards for latency, error budgets, device health, and store uptime while prioritizing data-driven improvements.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Java, JavaScript, or an equivalent modern programming language.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices, relational databases, and messaging or event-streaming patterns.
• Hands-on experience managing POS systems and clienteling applications, including device provisioning, releases, and integrations.
• Knowledge of instrumentation, telemetry, observability, dashboards, alerts, and SLOs for store applications and devices.
• Understanding of retail operations, omnichannel workflows, payments, terminal management, gateway integrations, and inventory accuracy.
• Ability to lead cross-functional execution, vendor squads, incident response, store launches, and retail-calendar delivery.

Nice to have

• Experience adopting AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor while maintaining code quality, security, and review standards.
• Experience applying AI/ML to associate copilots, recommendations, conversational assistants, or computer-vision use cases.
• Experience integrating LLMs, vector search, or other model APIs into POS and clienteling workflows.
