Engineering Manager (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid work from the Arlington, Virginia office, with an in-office expectation of at least 50% of the time, typically three days per week. The role is based in the United States.

Salary: $180,000–$225,000 starting base salary, plus equity and additional compensation benefits.

What you will do

• Lead engineers building the Global Card’s consumer-facing interfaces, APIs, and backend services.
• Partner with Product and Design to prioritize the roadmap and translate strategy into actionable OKRs.
• Recruit, onboard, mentor, and develop experienced engineers while establishing the Arlington engineering culture.
• Drive engineering quality, security, operational excellence, and risk management for a regulated financial product.
• Enable safe and effective adoption of AI and agentic coding tools to improve productivity and delivery speed.
• Represent the team in cross-functional planning with Product, Design, Analytics, and engineering partners.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years in an engineering leadership role managing teams and delivering complex full-stack or backend projects.
• Expertise in at least one backend or full-stack language, such as Go, Kotlin, Java, or TypeScript.
• Experience designing secure, scalable, and performant cloud-based software, including AWS infrastructure.
• Demonstrated judgment applying AI to developer productivity or product features, including safe team adoption.
• Experience coaching developers, recruiting engineers, and partnering effectively with Product and Design stakeholders.
