TL;DR
Environmental Compliance Manager (Environmental): Managing environmental compliance for electric transmission, natural gas pipeline, and renewable energy construction projects with an accent on permitting, field coordination, and regulatory oversight. Focus on reviewing compliance reports, enforcing permit requirements, coordinating agency and stakeholder visits, and managing project scope, schedule, and budget.

Location: Clifton Park, New York; the role reports to one of the New York offices in Clifton Park, Liverpool, Ithaca, or West Seneca and is approximately 75% office-based and 25% field-based, with travel to project sites and agency offices.

Salary: USD $89,273.60–$104,000.00 per year, plus potential eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

  • Oversee environmental compliance for electric transmission, natural gas pipeline, wind, solar, and other energy-related construction projects.
  • Coordinate field work and interact with clients, agencies, stakeholders, contractors, and environmental or agricultural inspectors.
  • Manage compliance scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and client communications.
  • Review field staff reports for quality assurance and quality control before distribution.
  • Provide guidance on compliance filings and active construction issues, represent clients at agency meetings and field visits, and enforce permitting documents and certificates.
  • Support proposals for compliance-related opportunities and perform inspector field duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, natural resources, biology, ecology, or a related field, with at least five years of post-degree experience.
  • Experience permitting or overseeing construction projects at federal, state, and local levels.
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance and permitting regulations, including New York Article VIII, SEQRA, NYSDEC programs, the Federal Clean Water Act, and FERC certificates.
  • Excellent verbal, technical, and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare and review clear reports, procedures, and correspondence.
  • Ability to work under aggressive schedules and manage multiple assignments.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and motor vehicle records check.

  • New York EI/AI or construction management experience.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, prioritization, and organizational skills.
