Environmental Manager (Landfill Engineering)

Location: Grand Junction, Colorado, USA; full-time, onsite role.

Pay range: $90,800–$124,850 annually, depending on hiring locality. Annual incentive plan target: 15%.

What you will do

• Prepare the landfill budget and manage engineering department spending across construction, operations, closure, and post-closure activities.
• Manage landfill cell and site development projects, including capacity calculations, schedules, resources, materials, and fill sequencing.
• Coordinate permit applications, site expansions, operating-plan changes, engineering designs, and regulatory communications.
• Prepare responses to regulatory inspections and administrative warnings while ensuring ongoing compliance.
• Coordinate air and water monitoring, environmental data review, reporting, soil tracking, and other status reports.
• Supervise, hire, train, mentor, schedule, and manage the performance of Environmental Technicians and Specialists.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience in landfill engineering or environmental compliance involving air, water, and solid waste.
• Thorough knowledge of environmental regulations related to air, water, solid waste, and material recovery or recycling.
• Strong project management, analytical, written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and interpret technical procedures, business documents, professional journals, and governmental regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with corporate staff, regulatory agencies, consultants, investors, customers, and vendors.
