TL;DR
Director, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) (Environmental Compliance and Safety): Leading agency-wide environmental health and safety programs for emergency response and workforce training operations with an accent on safety standards, environmental compliance, emergency medical support, and business continuity. Focus on advising leadership on significant risks, evaluating program effectiveness, and coordinating managers and professional staff across high-risk training programs.

Location: College Station, Texas, United States

Starting pay: $9,718.88 per month

Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service provides emergency response training, workforce training, and technical assistance in areas including fire and rescue, infrastructure and safety, law enforcement, cybersecurity, economic and workforce development, and homeland security.

What you will do

  • Lead and oversee the agency-wide Environmental Health and Safety Department.
  • Direct programs covering safety and health, environmental compliance, safety culture, emergency medical support, emergency coordination, and business continuity.
  • Lead managers and professional staff responsible for the TEEX Safety Program, Safety Committee, emergency medical support for high-risk training, and environmental compliance.
  • Establish agency standards and evaluate the effectiveness of EHS programs.
  • Advise agency leadership on significant risks and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, Texas A&M University System, and TEEX requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Sixteen years of related Environmental Health and Safety experience, including two years of supervisory experience.
  • Alternative qualifications include 18 years of related experience with an applicable associate degree, or 20 years with a high school diploma or GED; all alternatives require two years of supervisory experience.
  • Valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
  • Valid certification in a safety or environmental field, such as Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, or Certified Safety and Health Official.
