Director, Data Engineering (Enterprise Data Products & Engineering)

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States

Annual base salary: $139,400–$230,000, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Lead the development of analytic data products, pilots, and proof-of-concepts.
• Execute data strategies aligned with enterprise architecture, platforms, application infrastructure, and data consumption patterns.
• Operationalize and automate data capabilities to deliver secure, supported, and scalable solutions.
• Present analysis and recommendations to influence management decisions.
• Mentor, coach, and develop data engineers while establishing team processes and procedures.
• Partner with related teams to coordinate requirements, dependencies, and delivery plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related STEM field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least six additional years of data engineering experience.
• Five or more years of related experience balancing leadership and hands-on technical responsibilities.
• At least two years of management experience leading and developing technical professionals.
• Advanced hands-on knowledge of Databricks, Snowflake, Data Vault 2.0, Python, and SQL.
• Experience with AI tools, concepts, workflows, and AI-powered platforms such as Claude.
