Director, Analytics Engineering (AI)

Location: Remote, United States. The listed base salary range applies to United States residents only.

Salary: $139,200–$285,600 USD base salary per year, excluding bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead a team of 8 and set the analytics engineering strategy in partnership with Data Engineering, Data Science, IT, and business leaders.
• Build and own trusted semantic models, governed metrics, curated datasets, data contracts, testing, and documentation.
• Develop AI-ready data access through BI tools, Claude, MCP servers, Slack agents, evals, telemetry, and model-selection systems.
• Build production-grade data applications combining Snowflake data, APIs, AI-powered analysis, and write-back to Postgres or Snowflake.
• Set standards for security, authentication, testing, deployment, monitoring, governance, and reliable operation at company scale.
• Hire, coach, and retain a high-performing team while setting the roadmap and balancing stakeholder needs with reusable data products.

Requirements

• 12+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering, or BI, including 5+ years leading teams and 2+ years managing managers or senior leads.
• Expertise in data modeling, semantic layers, dbt, testing, CI/CD, SQL, and Snowflake; working knowledge of Python.
• Hands-on experience with LLM-powered data access, text-to-SQL, agents, MCP servers, evals, telemetry, and AI coding agents such as Claude Code.
• Strong experience with data quality, lineage, certified datasets, access controls, RBAC, row access, and masking policies.
• Track record of leading cross-functional data initiatives through strategy, adoption, and measurable business impact.
• Ability to work in an all-remote, asynchronous company and use hirify.global in line with its remote working competencies and values.

Nice to have

• Experience with LLM routing, gateway tools, and model cost management.
• Experience with Tableau, Omni, or BI platform migrations.
• Experience with React, TypeScript, web application development, and Postgres.
• Experience owning finance or revenue-critical data requiring high accuracy and auditability.
