Managing Director/Underwriting Director - National Property

Location: NC - Charlotte, United States; regular in-person meetings with agents and brokers and travel to these meetings are required.

Annual base salary: $169,400–$279,600, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Manage profitability, growth, and retention for business within a location or region.
• Partner with the Regional Vice President to develop and implement business strategies.
• Manage relationships and local strategies involving brokers and agencies.
• Underwrite and negotiate complex, high-risk, and difficult-to-close property accounts.
• Negotiate and procure reinsurance for complex accounts when needed.
• Lead, coach, train, and manage the performance of the underwriting team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Eight to ten years of relevant underwriting experience, including National Property experience.
• At least six years of experience in underwriting, claims, operations, risk assessment, actuarial work, sales, product, or finance.
• Experience leading or managing others and managing a field location.
• Expert knowledge of property products, regulatory requirements, and the local insurance market, with strong financial acumen.
• CPCU designation, strong critical thinking, communication, and negotiation skills.
