Associate Managing Counsel (Insurance)

Location: Richardson, Texas, United States; regular court appearances, hearings, trials, depositions, and transportation to legal proceedings are required.

Annual base salary: $153,700–$253,700, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Lead and manage a legal office or practice group and act as backup for Managing Counsel.
• Manage attorney staffing, performance, development, engagement, compensation, and case assignments.
• Handle an appropriate caseload of moderate to complex legal matters, including litigation plans, case evaluations, legal research, and trial reports.
• Review case files, coach attorneys, conduct training, and improve office quality and performance.
• Provide legal advice and advocacy to insured customers, clients, and business partners.
• Support Staff Counsel leadership initiatives, reporting, compliance, financial performance, and program-wide projects.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent international legal degree from an accredited law school.
• At least 7 years of experience as a practicing attorney.
• Prior project leadership or formal/informal management experience.
• Active law license in good standing in the state or states where representation is required.
• Regular experience with hearings, trials, dispositive motion arguments, depositions, or other court proceedings.
• Valid driver's license may be required depending on location.
