Senior Construction Surety Underwriter, Account Executive Officer (Construction Surety)

Location: Downers Grove, Illinois, United States; regular in-person meetings with agents and brokers and travel required.

Annual base salary: $109,300–$180,200, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Manage profitability, growth, and retention for an assigned book of moderately to highly complex construction surety accounts.
• Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts in line with risk appetite and profitability objectives.
• Analyze business operations, financial statements, market forces, and financial challenges.
• Partner with agents, brokers, internal teams, contractors, and customers to provide surety solutions and identify cross-selling opportunities.
• Market products, develop agency sales plans, and capture new business opportunities through consultative selling.
• Train and mentor less experienced underwriters.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Four years of experience in underwriting, product knowledge, financial analysis, or risk assessment.
• Five to eight years of applicable underwriting experience preferred.
• Deep knowledge of insurance and surety products, regulatory environments, and local insurance and surety markets.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
• Experience coaching and mentoring others; ability to travel to in-person meetings.
