TL;DR
Sr Mechanical System Engineer (Aerospace): Supporting aircraft mechanical systems through production, integration, troubleshooting, and ground and flight testing with an accent on system interactions, root cause analysis, and engineering dispositions. Focus on diagnosing system-level anomalies, coordinating corrective actions across engineering and manufacturing, and ensuring mechanical system integrity throughout the product lifecycle.

Location: Vandalia, Ohio, United States; office or hybrid environment

What you will do

  • Provide technical liaison support for aircraft mechanical systems throughout production, integration, and testing.
  • Lead root cause analysis and resolve system-level issues, non-conformances, and test anomalies.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, interface requirements, maintenance manuals, and test data to diagnose system behavior.
  • Support system, ground, and flight test readiness, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
  • Develop and approve engineering dispositions, repairs, rework instructions, and temporary deviations.
  • Coordinate technical actions across engineering, quality, manufacturing, and test teams while mentoring junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of mechanical or systems engineering experience, including liaison or test support.
  • Strong understanding of aircraft mechanical systems and their interactions under operational and test conditions.
  • Experience with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and interpretation of technical documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain an active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance are required.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering field.
  • Experience with assembly, integration, ground test, or flight test activities.
  • Experience with FAA, EASA, DoD, or NASA aerospace regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience with MRB, non-conformance management, MBSE tools, requirements management, instrumentation, or test analysis.
  • Experience maintaining or modifying Boeing commercial aircraft.
