Principal Engineer

Location: Huntsville, Alabama, United States; travel up to 20% required

What you will do

• Act as the technical expert for payload and countermeasure requirements development, analysis, design, qualification, and fielding.
• Review and assess prime contractor designs, plans, reports, and technical procedures.
• Evaluate target instrumentation requirements, physical layouts, component selection, and testing methodologies.
• Provide engineering support and technical evaluations across major program milestones, including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, FRB, MRB, and PAR.
• Lead multidisciplinary Technical Interchange Meetings and respond to technical inquiries from MDA organizations.
• Support cost analysis, schedule tracking, delivery deadlines, and leadership status reporting.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in STEM.
• 12+ years of experience supporting missile defense or large-scale, complex Department of Defense programs.
• Experience managing end-to-end program lifecycles, including development, testing, and fielding of complex systems.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoW security clearance.
• Ability to manage multiple urgent tasks in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

Nice to have

• Understanding of IR/RCS signatures for flight objects and countermeasures.
• Experience with material properties and material property measurements.
• Knowledge of real-world threat systems and their impact on target designs.
• Understanding of MDA flight test requirements and payload hardware development.
• Experience with technical proposal development and evaluation.
