TL;DR
Power Electronics Engineer (Aerospace): Designing and developing high-reliability, high-power AC-DC and DC-DC converters and power subsystems for radar, directed-energy, and military more-electric vehicle applications with an accent on modern converter topologies, circuit analysis, testing, and product lifecycle ownership. Focus on validating designs through modeling, reliability analysis, qualification testing, and manufacturing support for harsh aerospace and defense environments.

Location: Fort Walton Beach, Florida, United States; onsite. Only US persons will be considered because the role requires access to ITAR-controlled data.

Company

Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components for aerospace and defense applications, including radar, directed energy, electric warfare, satellites, and unmanned aerial systems.

What you will do

  • Design and develop high-power AC-DC and DC-DC converters, inverters, and power subsystems using modern topologies.
  • Develop analog and digital circuits for high-reliability aerospace and defense products.
  • Perform trade studies, mathematical modeling, circuit analysis, system integration, and reliability analysis to validate designs.
  • Plan and conduct functional, acceptance, qualification, and development testing for new or modified designs.
  • Prepare technical specifications, design documents, test plans, procedures, reports, and customer documentation.
  • Support the full design and manufacturing lifecycle, including proposals, customer and supplier communication, and manufacturing diagnostics.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of industry experience designing and manufacturing power-conversion electronics products, or relevant research and product development experience supporting a doctoral or post-doctoral program.
  • Demonstrated experience designing DC-DC or AC-DC converters, or inverters.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Must qualify as a US person for access to ITAR-controlled data.

Nice to have

  • Experience with manufacturing standards and practices, harsh-environment products, and military applications.
  • Ability to provide leadership to engineering design staff.
  • Advanced degree in power electronics, such as an MSEE or PhD, with relevant published research.
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills.

Culture & Benefits

  • Health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance beginning on the first day of the month.
  • 15 days of paid time off accruing from the first day of employment and 11 paid holidays annually.

  • Education reimbursement available after six months of employment.
  • Lean manufacturing practices and an emphasis on operational excellence, reliability, and quality.
