Principal Power Electronics Engineer II (Aerospace)

Location: El Segundo, California, United States. On-site, full-time. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Salary: $217,000–$266,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design optimized point-of-load converters for RF and digital modules and standalone DC-DC converter modules.
• Develop isolated and non-isolated converters, solar power converters, regulators, filters, magnetics, and power distribution systems.
• Own hardware development from concept through product roadmaps, schematics, PCB layout, manufacturing, testing, qualification, deployment, and in-orbit support.
• Perform circuit analysis, stability analysis, power integrity simulation, troubleshooting, and reliability assessments.
• Work with contract manufacturers and present engineering design reviews to customers and executives.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to proposal writing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 11 years of industry or university research experience in power electronics design, analysis, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Extensive experience designing power electronics products through schematic design, layout, manufacturing, testing, and deployment.
• Experience with power system architectures, worst-case circuit analysis, failure mode and criticality analysis, and reliability.
• Expert proficiency with EDA tools such as Altium, PCB layout for power circuits, SPICE-based simulation, and power integrity tools such as Ansys or ADS.
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, and signal generators, plus excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Space electronics design, development, and qualification experience.
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC design and mitigation techniques.
