Senior Counsel

Location: LA - Mandeville, United States

Annual base salary: $132,800–$219,100, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Independently manage higher-exposure cases and complex litigation matters from inception through trial and appeal.
• Try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions using advanced litigation skills.
• Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other substantive legal documents.
• Attend hearings, court events, depositions, and other appointments; collaborate with expert witnesses and consultants.
• Advise insured clients and Claim partners on case strategy and file-handling recommendations.
• Build client relationships, provide legal training, mentor attorneys and support staff, and support office initiatives.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent international legal degree from an accredited law school.
• At least 7 years of experience as a practicing attorney, including insurance defense litigation.
• Active license in good standing to practice law in the state or states where representation is required.
• Proven experience handling jury trials, hearings, dispositive motion arguments, depositions, or other court proceedings.
• Strong oral and written advocacy, legal research, negotiation, case analysis, and decision-making skills.
• Valid driver's license required depending on the location; ability to travel to court and other business appointments.
